Rocawear

Rocawear is an urban lifestyle apparel brand established in 1999 by Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, Damon Dash and Kareem Burke. By 2007 it was sold through better department and specialty stores.^{Source [1]}

Iconix Brand Group bought the brand in March 2007 for $204 million in cash plus up to $35 million in contingent payments. Iconix operates it as a licensing business, with 23 licenses covering men's, women's and kids' apparel, outerwear, footwear, jewelry, handbags and fragrance at the time of the deal, and Carter was retained as the core licensee and to help with creative direction.^{Source [3]Source [1]}

Iconix agreed in June 2021 to be taken private by an affiliate of Lancer Capital in a deal valued at about $585 million including net debt. The Rocawear website is operated by Iconix International.^{Source [4]Source [5]}
