Rebase offered immigration and tax residency services to remote workers moving to countries trying to attract them, beginning with Portugal.^{Source [1]}^{Source [2]}

In a May 2025 post Levels called it an immigration agency to move to Portugal and said Portugal ended that program in 2023. He classifies it as a project that took off and made money but was not sustainable.^{Source [3]}^{Source [1]}

What happened

Pieter Levels launched Rebase in November 2021 as immigration as a service, helping remote workers get legal and tax residency and work permits, starting with Portugal. Levels later wrote that Portugal ended the program it relied on in 2023, and his projects page lists Rebase as running from 2021 to 2024. The rebase.co domain now redirects to a domain sale listing.^{Source [1]}^{Source [3]}^{Source [4]}
