About Baremetrics

Baremetrics provides subscription analytics, including MRR, churn and retention dashboards, plus failed-payment recovery, cancellation insights and financial forecasting. It connects to billing sources such as Stripe, Braintree, Chargebee, Recurly, Shopify, the Apple App Store and Google Play.Source [5]

Pigford wrote that it grew to well over $1 million a year in revenue with a team of nearly a dozen people (self-reported).Source [1]Source [3]

In 2014 and 2015 it took $800,000 in seed money from General Catalyst and Bessemer. At the 2020 sale it had 10 team members and more than 1,000 customers; the investors agreed to write off their investment so the $4 million deal could close, and Pigford said he kept $3.7 million with $300,000 going to the team.Source [3]Source [2]

Since the sale it has been run by Xenon Partners' team. Its About page lists Luke Marshall as CEO, a remote team of 10 or more people and 850 or more customers.Source [4]Source [2]

What happened

Josh Pigford started Baremetrics in 2013 as an internal tool to track revenue metrics for his survey apps PopSurvey and Temper, then turned it into a product that plugs into Stripe and other billing systems. After a 2019 sale attempt fell through, he sold the company to private equity firm Xenon Partners for $4 million in cash in November 2020, about 2.65 times annual recurring revenue. Baremetrics continues to operate under new management with Luke Marshall listed as CEO.Source [1]Source [3]Source [2]Source [4]
