Under the new owners the club won promotion from the National League in 2023, from League Two in 2024 and from League One in April 2025, the first club in English football history to win three consecutive promotions, reaching the second tier for the first time since 1981-82. What happened

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds completed a takeover of the club from the Wrexham Supporters Trust on February 9, 2021, when it played in the National League. Three consecutive promotions took it to the Championship in 2025.
