What happened
Founded in 2019 by Alex Blania, who is CEO, Sam Altman, who is chairman, and Max Novendstern. It developed the Worldcoin project, which uses a device called the Orb to verify that a user is a unique human, launched the protocol in July 2023 and renamed it World in October 2024.
